Children's Mobile Libraries

CHILDREN are the future of any community. Knowledge is the frontier of the future. To pull communities out of poverty it is essential to surround its children with books and knowledge.
This is the motive behind the RLRDP's Children's Mobile Libraries. There are currently ten donkey drawn children's mobile libraries, funded by Save the Children Norway Zimbabwe.
They operate in Nkayi, Bubi and Tsholotsho districts.
The programme also aims to consolidate existing services in order to improve delivery, training of more child librarians and the strengthening of child led committees, and holding of community mobilization meetings for greater participation and support at local level.
It also hosts community based stakeholders meetings in order to achieve a holistic approach to children's needs, and engaging traditional leaders and local government officials in efforts to develop sustainability for the project.
